Safety Guidelines

Practical steps for a calm, safe first meetup.

Before you meet

  • Talk parent-to-parent on the platform first. There is no rush.
  • Keep your surname, address, phone and email private until you are comfortable.
  • Ask about supervision, allergies, pets and house rules in advance.

The first meetup

  • Choose a public place: a park, library, community centre or playground.
  • Both parents stay present for the whole visit.
  • Keep it short - an hour is plenty for a first meeting.
  • Agree in advance who is bringing whom, and how the children will get home.

Ongoing

  • Move to a home visit only when both parents are confident.
  • Talk with your child afterwards about how it went.
  • Stop if anything feels off, and use Block or Report.

Red flags worth reporting

  • Pressure to share personal contact details or move to another app.
  • Questions about a child's school, address, routine or full name.
  • Requests to meet a child without their parent present.
  • Anyone who cannot confirm they are a parent or legal guardian.
