Plain-language summary
A short overview to help you read the document below. The full document is what applies.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, and appeal if we say no.
- We do not sell personal information and we do not advertise to children.
- You never need a paid membership to exercise a privacy right.
1. Scope
Several U.S. states give residents privacy rights concerning personal information. The rights available to you depend on where you live. Rather than guess, we make the same set of request types available to every member and apply the law that applies to you. This notice does not state that a particular state law applies to FamilyFriendFinder; that determination is part of our legal review.
2. Rights we support
- Access - confirm whether we process your information and obtain a copy
- Correction - fix inaccurate information
- Deletion - delete your information, subject to legal exceptions
- Portability - receive your information in a portable format
- Opt out of targeted advertising
- Opt out of sale or sharing of personal information
- Opt out of profiling used for decisions with significant effects
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information
- Appeal a decision we make about your request
- Use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf
3. Our current practices
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- We do not carry out targeted advertising to children.
- We do not use profiling to make decisions that produce legal effects about you.
- We do not sell, license or broker child profile information, and we do not use child photos for advertising, facial recognition or AI training.
Because our practices could change, we maintain the technical ability to offer an opt-out mechanism. If we ever begin an activity that requires one, we will publish it on Your Privacy Choices and publish a new version of this notice first.
4. Sensitive information
Some information you may choose to provide - such as faith or religion, or a photograph of a child - can be treated as sensitive. It is always optional, it is off by default, you can turn off its use in matching, and you can remove it.
5. How to submit a request
Use the Privacy Request Center or write to our privacy contact. We will acknowledge your request, verify your identity where needed, and respond within the period required by the law that applies to you. There is no charge, and no membership is required.
6. Appeals
If we decline your request, our response will explain why and how to appeal. An appeal is reviewed by a different administrator, and the outcome and reasons are recorded.
7. Authorized agents
An authorized agent may submit a request for you. We will ask for proof of the agent's authority and may ask you to confirm it directly.
8. Children and teens
Only adults hold accounts. Information about children is provided and controlled by the adult account holder. See our U.S. Children's Privacy Notice and, for California residents, California Privacy Notice.
